If you’ve heard of the term ‘six degrees of separation’, you’ll know it refers to the theory that everyone can be connected through six other people. In New Zealand we joke that it’s only two degrees of separation – only it’s not really a joke! With New Zealand being such a small country of just over 4 million people, it’s fairly common for you to bump into people you know, wherever you go.
As a result of our size, New Zealand communities are closely-linked and accommodating, with plenty of social or community networks to join. After all, it pays to be polite when you might bump into that person at the beach or post office next week!
If you are looking for ways to network with people with similar interests, or beliefs, a range of resources and organisations are available at Community Net Aotearoa.
